Front view of the 9ct gold figurine pendant with emerald and Victoire seal

La Sentinelle d’Émeraude

$425.00

A small gold figure with outstretched arms, paired spirals and a single green emerald below its feet. La Sentinelle d’Émeraude measures 30mm long and weighs 2.28g.

Heritage & provenance

The frontal stance and spiral forms may echo gold figures from ancient Colombia and lower Central America. Such ornaments appeared in ceremonial dress, ritual life, burial offerings and exchange, with meanings specific to each community.

Met’s Tairona figure pendant and the Museo del Oro offer context for these possible visual references.

The sourcing history points to Colombia, although no receipt or identifying mark confirms manufacture there. This is modern, pre-owned jewellery; the historical comparisons do not identify it as a pre-Columbian artefact.

Material & condition

XRF testing produced a surface reading consistent with 9ct yellow gold. The auction house described the stone as a round emerald of approximately 0.13ct. No independent gemstone report accompanies it. Surface wear is visible.
